AK Material Handling Systems Gives Back

Making a Difference with Second Harvest Heartland

At AK Material Handling Systems, we believe in the power of community and the importance of giving back. We’ve partnered with Second Harvest Heartland for nine years to fight hunger and support those in need. Our latest effort, “Pack to the Max,” on November 21, 2024, was a testament to what teamwork and compassion can accomplish.

Packing to the Max: 438 Boxes of Apples, 14,435 Meals, and a Mission to End Hunger

This year, our Team—Pete, Tyler, Andrea, Jake, Danielle, and many others—rolled up their sleeves to sort apples and box them for needy families. Together, we packed 438 boxes of apples, equating to 17,322 pounds of food and a staggering 14,435 meals.

Tyler shared, “Taking time out of our busy days to work next to our Team members and make a difference is so rewarding to me. I’m so proud of this Team.”

This annual tradition of giving back has become a cornerstone of our culture at AK Material Handling Systems.

A Longstanding Partnership with Second Harvest Heartland

Our relationship with Second Harvest Heartland goes beyond events like “Pack to the Max.” Over the years, we’ve supported their mission in various ways, including lending our expertise to help design their state-of-the-art warehouse in Brooklyn Park. Watching their organization grow and increase its impact has been inspiring.

“Hunger is a solvable problem,” says Pete Brandon, reflecting on the partnership. “It’s incredible to see what we can achieve when we work together, leveraging resources and relationships to create lasting change.”

Why We Do It: The Power of Giving

One of our favorite days each year is Give to the Max Day, a time when collective action demonstrates the strength of community. At AK Material Handling Systems, giving back is not just a responsibility but a privilege. Each year, as our Team grows, so does our ability to make a difference.
