Worldwide Helps Low-Income Families Get Back To School

The excitement of the back-to-school season is upon us but for some families, the financial stress of being prepared for the school year outweighs their excitement. Local organization, MorningStar Mission of Joliet has created the “Jump On The Bus” program to take the stress out of back-to-school for low income families.

Aiding kids from kindergarten to high school, Jump On The Bus provides students with the supplies they need to have a successful year of learning. Anything from crayons and rulers, to backpacks and new shoes – MorningStar Mission does what they can to help these kids get the step ahead they need to make all the difference in their education. In a typical year, this program will help over 300 students in need.

MorningStar Mission is located just 10 miles from Worldwide’s headquarters, making this cause feel close to home and an obvious choice for Worldwide’s annual give-back efforts. Employees jumped in with enthusiasm to make this year’s donation drive a total success.

In just two weeks, Worldwide came together to collect all of the following:

17 backpacks
15 lunch boxes
24 binders
33 pairs of scissors
400 erasers
10 glue sticks
35 sharpies
264 pencils
75 rulers
33 pens
13 boxes of colored pencils
60 notebooks
33 pencil cases
30 boxes of crayons
65 folders

The Worldwide team hopes their donation will make a difference in many students’ experiences this year. If you’d like more information on this program or MorningStar’s other impactful efforts, please visit www.morningstarmission.org.
