EnerSys Hosts Exclusive Tour for Manufacturing Leadership Council

EnerSys Hosts Manufacturing Leadership Council

READING, PENNSYLVANIA, October 15, 2024 – EnerSys (NYSE:ENS), the global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications, hosted members of the Manufacturing Leadership Council (MLC) in an exclusive tour of the company’s Richmond, Kentucky plant. The tour took place October 9, 2024, and was attended by over 80 MLC members representing leading businesses across industry segments. The MLC, the world’s first member-driven, global business leadership network dedicated to senior executives in manufacturing, regularly hosts plant tours at partner organizations – providing its members an up-close look at best practices within the nation’s leading manufacturing and fulfillment operations. EnerSys is the latest in a list of notable operations to be chosen for this unique opportunity, including established leaders from consumer-packaged goods, retail and technology segments.

“To be selected by the MLC for a tour of our Richmond manufacturing plant is an absolute honor,” said Troy Baxter, Vice President of Global Operations for Motive Power at EnerSys. “Being recognized in the same category as some of the most elite, high-profile Fortune-500 companies is humbling to say the least. It’s a result of our efforts to foster a culture of quality, excellence and optimized processes through the deployment of employee-led manufacturing processes and best practices. This commitment to embracing digitalization and lean manufacturing initiatives has enabled us to boost our productivity, product quality and service levels not just at our Richmond, Kentucky plant, but at all our facilities around the world.”

During the EnerSys-led MLC tour, attendees were guided through a tour of the EnerSys Richmond, Kentucky facility to understand and benchmark processes where the company manufactures and distributes high-quality, flooded lead acid, lithium-ion and thin plate pure lead (TPPL) batteries and chargers across North America. MLC guests also participated in post-tour sessions and panel discussions to discuss best practices from the EnerSys plant and across industries that are continuing to hone manufacturing, fulfillment and logistics processes.

“In addition to networking with other industry leaders and hearing about the latest operational best practices, it was great to see firsthand how Manufacturing Leadership Council member, EnerSys, has taken century-old processes and absolutely modernized them,” added Dan Witherington, Senior Director of Council Development for the National Association of Manufacturers. “EnerSys serves as a great example of manufacturing excellence as is evident at how thoroughly they’ve applied best practices to production processes at their Richmond plant. I believe the attendees walked away with new ideas and key learnings they can take back to their companies to enhance their own operations. The MLC plant tours are vital for the industry as the membership is made-up of leading manufacturers from around the world. We greatly appreciate Enersys hosting the MLC.”

Earlier this year, EnerSys and its team members were also privileged to be named finalists for four 2024 Manufacturing Leadership Awards. Created in 2005 by the MLC, this awards program recognizes organizations that excel in manufacturing best practices and drive measurable business results.

EnerSys and team members were honored as finalists in the following 2024 MLC Manufacturing Leadership Award categories:

  • Collaborative Ecosystems: EnerSys M4.0 software
