AK Material Handling Systems’ Give Back Crew Packs Meals at Feed My Starving Children

On Thursday, March 23rd, 2024, the Give Back Crew (GBC) of AK Material Handling Systems made a difference packing meals at Feed My Starving Children in Maple Grove, MN.

In just under two hours of focused work, our group filled 113 boxes with an astonishing 24,408 meals! This packing session was devoted to Honduras and will provide 66 kids with a nourishing meal every day for an entire year.

About Feed My Starving Children

Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization that was founded in 1987 by Minnesota-based Richard Proudfit. In 1993, FMSC’s famous MannaPack rice formula was developed with experts at Cargill, General Mills, and Pillsbury. This innovative formula would become the staple of FMSC’s mission and the product around which volunteers and team members gather to this day.

MannaPack is a nutritious, vitamin and mineral-packed meal solution for malnourished children that FMSC uses in each of its meals. Donations fund the ingredients required for this formula, and volunteers hand-pack the meals at packing events like the one we recently attended. Meals are then donated to FMSC partners worldwide so kids in need can gain access to healthy and nutritious meals.

From Hunger to Hope: Ways to Get Involved

Powered by donations and volunteer groups like the GBC and thousands of others offering their time and energy at packing events, FMSC has reached over 112 countries around the world. This number continues to grow as time goes on. If you are interested in volunteering with FMSC, visit their Get Involved page and sign up for a packing event near you!

Above and beyond packing events and the organization’s innovative MannaPack formula, FMSC has developed a potato formula (Potato-D) – the world’s first and only food to treat diarrhea, providing complete nutrients for babies 7-12 months. Additionally, their CROPPS (Coalition of Relief Organizations Promoting Practical Solutions) sustainability initiative and PBFA (Project Based Food Assistance) program provide long-term food provision solutions in communities that need it most.

We are honored to have had the opportunity to volunteer with this incredible organization! Please consider volunteering or giving and witness how you can “Turn Hunger into Hope with Your Own Two Hands”!
